Acloché Goes PINK for a Cure

October is recognized as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and as a continued supporter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation for a Cure, Acloché is helping spread awareness by dedicating Friday, October 26, as a “Pink Out Day” for their staff!

“Pink Out Day” is designed to encourage staff members, clients and associates to wear pink clothing and accessories in order to spread breast cancer awareness to those they come in contact with throughout the day.

“We hope by spreading awareness, Acloché can help the cause make one step closer to saving a life and finding a cure,” said Kim Shoemaker, the CEO of Acloché. “This cause is extremely important to us, and we realize how this disease has touched the lives in some way to nearly everyone you meet.”

According to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for a Cure, it is estimated that in 2012 nearly 2,200 new diagnoses of breast cancer would be made in men in the United States alone and of those cases 400 would cause death. The estimates for women are drastically higher with nearly 227,000 new diagnoses being estimated in 2012 in the United States. It is estimated that of those cases, a staggering 40,000 would result in death.

“These statistics are frightening, making this cause even more crucial to support,” says Shoemaker.

As the statistics point out, breast cancer does not discriminate between the sexes, age groups or races, making it vital for individuals to perform routine self-examinations and to schedule annual mammograms.
