TITLE: Application Systems Analyst/Programmer III
1. B.S. or B.A. degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent technical training
2. At least five years of ETL and programming experience, advanced SQL knowledge and at least 5
years of experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working
familiarity with a variety of databases, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, AWS (RedShift,
3. Possess a proficient knowledge of required application programming languages and tools
appropriate to assigned platform(s)
4. Possess a comprehensive knowledge of specific application architecture, standards and procedures
5. At least five years of experience building processes that support data transformation, data
structures, metadata, dependency and workload management. Experience with object-oriented/object
function scripting languages: Python, R, Java, C++, Scala, etc. preferred
6. Experience implementing and documenting data models and schema for new database structures and
applications and implement measures to ensure data accuracy and accessibility preferred
7. Possess a general knowledge of all insurance terms and concepts as well as a detail knowledge of
specific business functions
8. Possess proficient communication skills
9. Possess extensive design capabilities and understanding of operation hardware and software

10. Regular and reliable attendance and punctuality is an essential function of this position.
1. Responsible for the maintenance, improvement, cleaning, and manipulation of data in the
business’s operational databases
2. Work with the business’s software engineers, architects, actuaries, and other quantitative
analysts to understand and aid in the implementation of data requirements, analyze performance, and
troubleshoot any existent issues
3. Define and build the data pipelines that will enable faster, better, data-informed
decision-making within the business
4. Design and develop scalable ETL packages from the business source systems and the development of
ETL routines in order to populate databases from sources and to create aggregates
5. Expected to take minimal direction for solving complex data engineering tasks. They possess the
experience and knowledge to implement best-practice data transformation methods
6. Facilitate and educate user departments by writing and maintaining programs and providing
consultation as needed on new software installed or modifications to existing programs
7. When needed, provide project leadership by planning, allocating, motivating and controlling
project work and IT staff and other resources on projects with a limited scope
8. Contribute to the improvement in departmental and operating efficiencies by following
departmental standards and procedures and by initiating and promoting new concepts and ideas
9. Contribute to success of overall IT and company goals and objectives by continuously improving
self and following company and IT administrative steps and procedures.
