Job Description

JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.

  • Drive safety to Zero injuries and support transition to safety focused culture.
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan for improving maintenance downtime.
  • Collaborate with operations, and capital engineers to develop capital projects to improve overall equipment efficiency.
  • Measure and monitor fleet and technician performance metrics and adjusts accordingly
  • Develop long-term strategies aimed at equipment reliability improvements.
  • Prepare, review, and submit specifications for the procurement of lift machines and other related equipment
  • Inspect maintenance facilities and equipment to ensure proper and safe conditions and operation
  • Coordinate the transfer or disposal of surplus vehicles
  • Obtains quotes for various work to be performed by outside contractors
  • Maintain accurate records of department equipment, tools, supplies, warranties and other materials
  • Develop a plan for identifying and maintaining accurate records of department equipment, tools, supplies, warranties and other materials. 
  • Manage a staff of Technicians dedicated to improving the mechanical reliability of the machinery and yard. 
  • Develop long-term strategies aimed at equipment reliability improvements.
  • Customer service skills in working with employees from various departments and outside vendors

    Supervisory skills needed to handle employee problems, new employee selection, discipline, termination and performance appraisals etc

     

    Knowledge of preparing bid specifications for vehicles and equipment

    Knowledge of safety practices, Worker’s Compensation and basic OSHA regulations

     

Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, but not required. 
1-3 years direct fleet management, mechanics, or heavy truck/construction industry experience is required.
Fleet, Courier, logistics and or automotive work experience is required. 

Working Environment

  • Work is performed in a typical indoor office environment as well as hands on field work
  • Regular visits to RMG facilities requiring use of personal protective equipment with exposure to adverse conditions
  • Mobility required within an office and on the ground
  • Travel will be required as needed
  • Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late when necessary with little or no notice
  • Must be able to read documents, use a computer, communicate verbally and in writing
