Key Responsibilities
- Lead integration of automation strategy for Halfshaft and Propshaft Assembly Cells and systems
- Develop concepts for automation system design and build to support plant Assembly Operations, including robots, vision systems, and any technical solutions required to solve assembly challenges
- Apply Project management skills to develop timing plans, assign task owner, and oversee tasks per the timeline
- Develop project justifications and work with creation of documents necessary to request CAPEX
- Oversee installations according to all relevant company and US safety standards.
- Oversee the creation of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic/pneumatic, and layout drawings and BOM’s
- Oversee development of revision control of tooling and other mechanical devices to support automation projects, including management of documentation on company servers
- Oversee component specification and selection, with preference toward utilizing items already stocked
- Oversee implementation of a training plan upon completion of equipment installations to ensure Operations, Maintenance, and VS ME are equipped to take ownership of equipment
- Lead the creation of technical specifications for selection of machines and automation to support RFQ
- Perform robot programming (Yaskawa Motoman) and train others in robot programming
- Direct team members in the development of electrical control and safety system specification
- Familiarity with PLC, HMI and Safety controller programming (AB and Siemens)
- Familiarity with Industrial network specification and configuration
- May involve some mechanical work (Assembly and fabrication)
- Occasional support of maintenance teams for repairs, troubleshooting or continuous improvement.
- May require some travel for machine runoffs or projects
- May require some weekend and night work to support projects
- Perform additional assignments as defined by Manufacturing Engineering & Program Launch Manager
About you
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical Preferred) from Accredited Institution
- Minimum of 5 yrs. experience with robotic systems, including tooling and mechanical design, ladder logic and integration with machine PLCs.
- Training and a minimum of 2 yrs. experience with vision systems
- Training and a minimum of 2 yrs. experience with PLC and HMI programming.
- Proficiency with: PC’s, Industrial networks, PLC’s, HMI’s, Safety Controllers, vision systems, AutoCAD, Excel, Word, Outlook, Industrial robot programming.
- Able to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in a fast-paced high-volume manufacturing environment
- Yaskawa programming experience
- Project Management Certification
