Q and A With HR:
What was your first job?
Traci: Cold food prep in the Embassy Suites Hotel kitchen, in 1985
What’s your go-to comfort food?
Maggie: Ice cream
What is a lesson from your childhood that still influences you today?
Traci: If you are going to climb to the top of a tree, make sure you preplan a way down.
If you had a free weekend with no obligations, how would you spend it?
Jen: I’m a homebody and can happily spend a whole weekend at home reading, crafting, and catching up on movies and TV shows.
What’s one thing you appreciate most about your colleagues?
Maggie: The HR team is very cohesive, we are cross trained on most tasks and have great communication within our team.
How has your definition of success changed over time?
Traci: I used to think it was about having material things, now I view success as learning how to better manage myself and continue to learn from the hardships of life.
What career advice would you give to someone just starting out?
Maggie: Absorb all training opportunities, use the tools that have been made available to learn and perfect processes.
What’s the most interesting project you’ve worked on?
Jen: Probably our 50th anniversary celebration in 2018 – we did a whole year of coordinating various events to give back to our communities, but the biggest project that year was our Warriors and Survivors Gala where we hosted a casino night and silent auction with proceeds to a couple of local charities. Lots of planning and juggling and learning new things on the fly that year.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
Maggie: Problem solving / investigating – researching things like background checks, data discrepancies, etc.
How did you end up in your current role?
Jen: I was a Claims Examiner with a third-party administrator and working on the Acloché account when a Workers’ Comp Coordinator role opened at Acloché. Someone involved with the account suggested I apply and provided a reference that helped me get in the door. I pretty quickly took on more responsibilities in that job, then worked my way up to HR Generalist, HR Manager, and then Director of HR over the past 20 years.
What was your dream job when you were a kid?
Traci: I wanted to be a lawyer. Looking back, I think it was so I could get paid to argue with others.
What does a typical day look like for you?
Jen: A typical day is full of variety. I never know what might pop up – the HR team covers a lot of different functions for a lot of different people, so there’s always a new request or question or need. After 20+ years you’d think nothing would surprise me, but it still happens!

A big thank you to our HR team for the passion, professionalism, and support they bring to Acloché every day! Their impact extends far beyond HR, helping our entire organization thrive.
Stay tuned to meet the next amazing team that helps make Acloché a success!
