As a women-owned business and 15-year participant in the Komen Race for the Cure, Breast Cancer Awareness month is near and dear to Acloché

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the U.S., but, in many cases, it can be successfully treated. This month, we’ve partnered with Susan G. Komen to bring you important information about breast health. Today, we’re sharing two breast self-awareness messages: know your risk and get screened.

Did you know one of the main risk factors is your family’s health history? Knowing your family health history can help you and your health care provider determine if you’re at a higher risk of breast cancer. Komen offers the My Family Health History Tool, a free, web-based resource that makes it easy for you to record and organize your family’s health history so you can discuss your risk with your health care provider.

Breast cancer screening also plays an important role in your health. Breast cancer screening tests are used to find breast cancer in people who have no warning signs or symptoms. Screening tests can help detect breast cancer at an early stage, when the chances of survival are the highest. Talk with your doctor about your risk of breast cancer and create a screening plan that’s right for you.
